Spa Asia SpaAsia: 10 good reasons to join the party!

In the wake of the highly successful first edition, on Sunday 10th September, DG Sport will be presenting the second vintage of SpaAsia, major gathering of enthusiasts of cars and motorcycles emanating from the Asian continent. An event that promises to be unmissable, for at least ten good reasons …

Subaru exhibition

The Japanese Subaru make came into being in 1953. That is 70 years ago. As such SpaAsia was the perfect setting for a major exhibition retracing these seven decades, with a focus on the Legacy and Impreza models which enabled Subaru to distinguish itself on the world rally scene, and strengthen its reputation …

Globe of Death

Among the entertainment not to be missed, the Infernal Varanne Riders will be hurtling on down to Francorchamps with their Globe of Death! What motorsport fan has not had, as a child, the opportunity to open their eyes to the spectacle of motorcycles evolving at crazy high speeds and in close formation….in a dome? A common sight at fairs, and one that some have taken great pleasure in developing over and over. To such a point that the Infernal Varanne Riders are world record holders! To be seen …

Everyone on the track!

If on the one hand the atmosphere in the paddocks of the Circuit de Francorchamps will be on a high, the activity on the track will be permanent, with riding and driving sessions for motorcycles and cars, as also two Parades, one reserved for two-wheelers and the other for four-wheel machines, held at the end of the morning. A unique opportunity to discover or rediscover in a friendly atmosphere, and at a reduced speed, the legendary 7-kilometre asphalt track …

Spa and Furious

Following in the footsteps of the Fast & Furious series of films, SpaAsia will be the setting for two-car drag races, held between the foot of the Raidillon and the Source hairpin! The rule could not be simpler: the first one over the line wins! This competition, dubbed Spa and Furious, will let the power of the machines do the talking. With no technical constraints whatsoever. Mind your backs!

Drift… to scale!

Youngsters are mad about it … and some adults also! A demonstration area for radio-controlled cars will give star billing to drift throughout the day. And one will be astonished by the realism of these powerful Japanese GT machines to scale, hurtling at speed in great drifts!

Best of Show

It’s an essential ingredient of SpaAsia: to give owners of Asian cars the chance to display their machines in the paddocks of the ‘most beautiful circuit in the world’, as also offer them the opportunity to take part in a genuine competition, the Best of Show! Once more this year the Best of Show will involve all types of cars present in the paddocks, and following the vote from the jury, as passionate as it is competent, prizes will awarded in the Original and Tuning categories, as also the Prize of the Jury. So, there will be something for everyone.

The clubs, soul of SpaAsia

A unifying event such as SpaAsia can but arouse the curiosity of numerous clubs, whether of the two-wheel or four-wheel type. Makes, models, types of vehicles, any pretext is good when it comes to sharing one’s enthusiasm and exchanging ideas with other enthusiasts. Gathering in the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps paddocks, participation in the parades, riding and driving sessions on the track, the clubs will have a field day.

Kids’ Village

In its various organisations, DG Sport makes it a point of honour to ensure that the entire family can enjoy themselves. The youngest ones will be able to take full advantage of a Kids’ Village with its many attractions. An opportunity to immerse oneself in the atmosphere of SpaAsia, and no doubt to arouse new passions …

Asian cuisine

If on the one hand cars and motorcycles will be at the heart of SpaAsia, Asian culture will also be highlighted. With the presence, in the exhibitors’ village, of various stands allowing one to sample a range of culinary delights. The perfect excuse to enjoy a break in what promises to be an intense day!

The rising…sun!

And as icing on the cake, the weather forecast is quite simply optimistic! Spread the word, next Sunday, it will be gloriously warm on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Summer conditions that will definitely encourage the public to head on down to the motorised pearl of the Belgian Ardennes, to enjoy a programme that will be nothing short of exceptional!
